Talamanca is geared heavily to the family getaway. The beach is very long, made
of gorgeous sands, and you will find volleyball very popular, along with all the
usual beach and water-sports. The waters are good for swimming, and though they
do get a little dirtier as summer progresses, mainly due to the proximity of Ibiza
harbour, they are maintained throughout the season. So don't let that put you off
entering the water. Comparative to the average English beach, these waters are like
bathing in Evian.
Talamanca is the closest thing you can get, this near to Ibiza Town, to a sleepy
resort. There are very few amenities here, but if you need a newspaper, tobacconist
or supermarket then both the village of Jesus (pronounced something like 'Hey-Zeus')
and Ibiza Town itself are a mere quarter of an hour's walk away in either direction.
For those of you unable to contemplate this marathon, and it is your holiday, after
all, then there are regular ferries from the resort into town.
Accommodation can be found in a great variety of hotels along the shoreline, or
in one of many apartments on the resort, if self-catering is what you're after.
And talking of food, the beach at Talamanca is lined with one restaurant after another,
making this the ideal setting for night after night of gastronomic exploration.
As the sun goes down here, you can watch all the lights of Ibiza Town come up, and
with so little traffic and other noisy disturbances, you could hardly ask for a
more romantic setting.
For those seeking a more hectic nightlife, then the harbour area is only a stroll
away, the nightclubs Pacha and El Divino practically on your doorstep. The ferries
run until midnight for those of you wishing to steal a march on the action.
But Talamanca is mainly about chilling out and watching the world go by. The atmosphere
couldn't be more relaxing if you'd slipped it a sedative while it wasn't looking.
Kids will love it here for, apart from the great sandy expanse of beach to play
on, there are also numerous ferry trips to all manner of destinations, and it would
be remiss of you not to take at least on of these trips during your stay.
One of the best features of this beach is that, unlike its more popular contemporaries,
it never seems to get too crowded or too noisy. Perhaps due to its size, or its
location, there will always be a welcome for you here.
